I agree with the others on the BFG ATs.

I went through a similar decision-making process this past fall for a Toyota Tacoma 4WD. My original tires had about had it and I was never really that satisfied with them in snow. I decided on BF Goodrich All-Terrains. I had been concerned with the possibility of excessive highway noise because of the agressive appearing tread but have found they make no more noise than my original equipment tires. Not objectionable at all. They are pricey indeed at about $175 per tire for the LT265/70R16 size. They are the light truck (LT) series and not the P (passenger car series) so they have a heavier sidewall. Nice deep tread. I haven't given them a real good snow test yet this year for lack of snow so far, but I expect they will do about as well as anything else. They were highly recommended to me and I see they are standard equipment tires on Hummers.
