Ford 3000 Diesel w/Select-o-speed

I am considering buying an early 60's Ford 3000 diesel with a Select-o-speed transmission. Is this tractor/transmission combination good? Does the select-o-speed require more maintenance and does it have a higher failure rate than a normal transmission? If I do have problems with the select-o-speed, can it be replaced with a regular "stick" type of transmission? I would also like to put a bucket loader on it, would there be any issues with this transmission and a bucket? Lastly, what would be a good price for a tractor like this? Thanks for your response.
