SOS does not have a great reputation for reliability. There seem to be few parts available and fewer shops who are successful at fixing them. The last time I was shopping for a tractor that size, I found dealers would not even bid on a tractor with SOS as a trade in. Using the fragile SOS for a loader would not enhance its survival. Its probably a lot easier to avoid the SOS problems than to find a spare conventional transmission to go in place of it. No doubt there are some Ford with SOS that have survived and never needed work and may survive for a long time. But it doesn't seem there are any significant number, some would say there aren't any. I've avoided them so I have no personal experience. Gerald
