Hi wo, I seperated 10gal 2yrs ago by letting the oil sit in 5gal buckets with a plastic trash bag over the top of the bucket. Sorry I can't tell you how long it took as I let it sit a year without looking at it. It looked like new oil tho, very clear, and lots of water on the bottom plus alot of other junk (piston seals). You might do a search on the Tool forum as I made a post there with some other good responses from the guys. (found it quit looking) T_Bone
