Timing too advanced will create knocking.Timing too retarded will cause rapid heat builduup. Adding oil to fuel will change it to knock even worse.Timing should be kept ot manufacturers specs in a stock motor.when people squeeze a little more power from an engine with timing changes this is less than 5 degrees either way.Any more than that I think your asking for trouble.
