I have an 1982 Bobcat 843 (Perkins Diesel) in the shop right now getting the main seals replaced, due to severe oil leakage. I'm new to diesels, as this was my first piece of equipment with a diesel. Problem is, even sitting in a heated garage (6o degress F), it needs ether assist to start. When I just unloaded the skidsteer at the diesel repair shop, the mechanic said it sounds like the engine spins way too easily, and the hard starts in warm temps are likely the result of low compression. He stated that it may be a good idea to replace the rings, and have a valve job done on it. Just wondering what you folks think..worth the money, or should I think about getting the seals fixed, and going with something a little newer? Thanks all
