I have been thinking of a under ground shelter for fire reasons around here plus storage of things because it would be cool. My thought would be a steel Shipping container with rolled on tar setting on a gravle base with blocks and back filled. It would have a steel box or culvert pipe entry with a concrete bulk head and a good set of steel doors. A few vent pipes one high and one low in the box for a thermo effect on circulating air with out a fan being needed all the time. I would have electricity in it but it would not be used to live in because a fire will pass over here in less than 30 mins and then you could come out. It happened once and since I was wathching from a distance I know how long it takes. It would be a good place to throw some stuff in fast and a place for my dogs and us to stay if nessasary. Make a great shelter for a storm or tornado. Nucular War is a joke to build something for, how do you keep all the neibors out when it happens? And I sure could not stay in it long enought for it to be safe outside!! Mark H.
