Bbott, 1) Actually, at this point only 10 acres are plantable (they’ve been corn for years). Around 40 acres are open pasture. Have been supporting beef cows for 20+ years. The 40 acres are a bit hilly (some too steep to plant but on edge of property).
2) Yes, I’m mechanically inclined , and my Father-in-Law defines mechanically inclined. He makes a lot of stuff from scratch and does a lot of custom mods. He loves the old Farmalls & JDs. And is probably going to loan me a Farmall. I think it’s an “M”. What do you think about a Super M?
3) Of the remaining 160, I am going to put 145 into what’s called woodland management, which means I’ll have to harvest some timber each year. The other 15 I’m going to clear into fields. They were fields in the past and have young trees on them.
Some of the land can get a bit wet. Do you think I should look at 4WD?? Thank you SOOOOO much for your help and interest….I’m going to email you a picture of my land if it’s ok………..
