Old International Harvester

Hi, New to tractors. Uncle in law has roughly 40 year old IH 2 wheel drive, about 35 horses. He bought it used so we don't really know how old. He and father in law own the surrounding 250 acres of land. Hills, fields, 80% woods, LARGE garden. I am contemplating on getting a new 4 wheel drive tractor am currently unsure on which color. I am trying to find one that might do my simple things, but they might go in it with me and maybe get something to replace IH. I am looking at front loader, rear finish mower and am confused on what models might be comparable to the 2 wheel drive IH. Can I "step down" in power and get same work done?
I personally am thinking maybe something in range of 22/27 hp with R4 "industrial" tires. Thanks for any thoughts. Regards
