Yesterday on my way in to town, I observed the same things that I usually notice on weekends when I'm home. There's the same Case 5xx setting out by the road at the asphalt place not far from me where it's been setting for a year, big bucket and backhoe. Would be nice for side income. Then just past that is the guy with a nice '60's or '70's Deere, can't make it out, but looks to be a 4xxx, with a loader, setting out next to the barn where it hasn't moved all winter, but is a nice looking tractor from what I saw. Would be nice to have too. Then I had to stop and wait for a guy that was backing a Case industrial (same or similar to the asphalt place, think 580?) out across the road carrying HUGE bolders from one end of his yard to the other. Yep, certainly would be nice. After seeing the HUGE bolder in the bucket, I took a good look at the bucket mounting and was far different and beefier than anything I have, or you see on AG tractors, and that industrial was shorter and sits lower than AG's do, and I'll bet those front axles are larger and beefier than AG's are. I jut coudn't envision AG's with loaders lifting too many of those boulders, and not for long. Then I continued on my way into town to the bank. On my way home, ran past the Deere dealer just over the Michigan line in Union, and looked over that 4520 deisel that's been sitting up by the road. Front and rears are about 20% at best and one of the rears is flat. No biggie that the top link and guards for the swing arms are missing, no biggie. Has 6100 Hrs and needs a few things, no biggie. But has a brand spanking new battery and new cables, which tells me that it'll fire right up, and the dearler is gonna want $$$ for it. They were closed, and I'll call later in the week. I'm sure $$$, but it's all original, including the pea green oxidized paint. She's a beaut. Sounds like you have a couple of nice tractors there, that get the job done, and that's what's important. The Ferguson System Principal An implement cutting through the soil at a certain depth say eight inches requires a certain force or draft to pull it. Obviously that draft will increase if the implement runs deeper than eight inches, and decrease if it runs shallower. Why not use that draft fact to control the depth of work automatically? The draft forces are
