Truck, ignore BLT, he's a dummy, your computer has very little to do with it, a 486 will make a pretty good internet surfing machine.
I would advise you, however to get rid of AOL. Their connections are known to be some of the slowest in the business.
Unless you really live way out in the boonies see if you can't hook up with a local company. That way you support local people, and get a better connection. AOL doesn't give a dammed about you they just want your money.
If you have cable see if they'll hook you up they're connections can be very fast, and you can get rid of the danged modem...
