lucas.... as a contractor i will not start a job without money down to buy materials. your afraid the contractor wont show... well im afraid i wont get paid when im done. thats why i ask for money down. you say even going to court wont get you the money back in the end.... i say putting a lean on the house wont get me anywhere after the job is done either. liens good for 10 years and as long as you dont sell the house, a lien dont mean nothing. i just thought i would try and defend myself and fellow contractors that just because we ask for money down doesnt mean any sort of scam is involved. sorry if i have offended you and not trying to take a direct shot at you, just want to tell the other side
