Aussie Shepard or Border Collie. The three smartest dogs are German Shepards, Border/Aussie Collie and the Poodle. We raised the current Red Border Collie from a pup with the kids so he will accept them and know his place. He guards the place, plays with the kids, will play fetch as long as you toss something, catch and eat just about any vermin and wants truck rides. I had to give him a blast with the training collar so he would leave the kids rabbits and the chickens alone. He's slept several nights in the garage with escaped rabbits running loose or with new baby chicks. No casualties as of yet. He does want to herd the neighbor’s cattle and has scared them silly. The electronic perimeter fence kept him at our place last year but the county snagged the end of the wire with the mower. 220 yards of wire gone in a couple of seconds. He stayed in the yard for about two months afterwards then discovered travel is "safe". The s.o.b. is going to get “SSS” if he doesn’t wise up soon. He will come immediately when called now. A couple of sessions with the training collar improved his hearing and desire to obey. I've been wondering if that collar would work on the kids or wife?
