I'm guessing that by the engine, you have a Ford 3600. The 3 cylinder Ford engines were actually designed as diesels, and in the case of yours, converted to gas. Yours was designed for a 10000 hour service life, and there are LOTS that did that. If it's running strong now, with proper care it will last a long time. BTW, I'm not disputing what Allan has stated with regard to service hours. As a generalization, he's dead on. I know that most Cummins and Cat engines today have an expected service life of over 15000 hours before any major service work. Take care.
