I agree with everything you said and i want to add that a rear discharge takes a little less hp to run because it gets rid of the grass sooner. A side discharge keeps chopping the grass all across the mower untill it gets out the side.

My grass is thick, and a compact tractor with 25 pto hp has a full load with a 5 foot mower if you let the grass go at all!!

I much prefer the rear discharge mower.
