The crome unless of course its also crome on the inside does nothing to help with power. The fact that if he put a crome pipe on it would be removeing the muffler is what makes for more power. The stright pipe of the crome stack lessens the back preassure on the exhaust and that is what give it more power. It also in most cases give you a little more gallion per hour rate. I.E. if you use 1 gallion per hour with a muffler on and go the the stright pipe you might get 1 hour and 5 minutes to the gallion, but the of course will vary on what your putting that pipe on
