Jerry.........both the 2-speed OverDrive Sherman and the 2-speed UnderDrive Sherman have a very simple "L" shaped shifter over yer left toe. The more common and popular of the dealer installed 3-speed Combo Shermans have a dog-legged "S" shaped shifter lever. I'm embarrassed to admit that I'd had my 8N with 3-speed Combo maybe 4yrs before I learned that it was a 3-speed and you PULLED the shifter handle out to the LEFT about 1" and then back toward you like OverDrive for DIRECT DRIVE..........Dell
