The only time you have to worry about mashing grass is if the grass is wet. I have a 6' finish mower, and it works very well. The only thing you must remember is in the discharge of the grass. The wider the mower, the less distance it will throw the cut grass, leaving windrows. I did see today that Woods is making a rear discharge finish mower, it might be worth looking into.
