If it were me, I'd have a look in the operators manual. It will certainly give recomendations for change interval, and viscosity. I think you will also see a note about oil consumption on Deutz engines. They burn so much per 100 hours. You might simply find that the Deutz is a "dirtier" engine than the Case, and that' why the oil has more discoloration. David Brown was the only diesel engine that I've ever seen that kept it's oil spotless. Ford is one of the dirtiest, with the turbo engines wanting a change at 150 hours, due to degredation and soot buildup. Check the change interval, but I think I'd still stay with 15W40. That's pretty much the standard in heavy diesel engines today. Rod
