Fuel mileage from a Duramax

Hey all I am considering trading my truck and was wondering about the fuel consumption and dependability of the new, quieter, Duramax diesels from GM. I have a 1/2 ton chevy now (2001) with the 5.3 engine it does ok on fuel but lacks power and the truck itself has not been the best chevy I have ever owned so I am thinking now, while everything is working properly, it might be time to trade.I drive about 70 miles a day to and from work and a couple times a year I tow an 8,000 pound load most of the time I tow smaller stuff. just want to know what to expect if I trade.
