Well....If you want to restore them to exact original condition, I can see why you want 6 volts. But....if you are truly RESTORING the tractor to original specs throughout, there will likely be several things on most of them that have been modified to make it operate more nearly the way the previous owner wanted it to, or will need repair/replacement due to wear/tear/abuse. The "especially you Farmall people" remark includes me, I guess. I have an M that starts on 12 volts quite well. Even with good cables, connections, and starter, a 6 volt battery labors to turn it with the oversize-bore high-compression pistons. But I guess those aren't original either.....
