I am probably the worst 'correct police' with my own tractors there is. Everything has to be exactly the way it came from the factory - except for my Oliver 88. Six volts just isn't enough for that old girl no matter how healthy the starting system is, so now it is starting on twelve, but it does not have an alternator. I have also converted a couple of M's to twelve and that too was pure necessity.( yes, they have alternators but it was by the owner's request) Most other six volt tractors will start just fine if everything is up to snuff.
