Here's a tip that an old-timer (unfortunately recently deceased) gave me. Try to run as much of the hay in on the far end of the pickup. On its trip through the auger (or rotors, or whatever the 565 has) to the plunger, any tangled spots or lumps will get broken up and fed in more evenly. I find that doing this works in heavy hay and straw, but in light, leafy alfalfa or clover, it loses too many leaves.
