The CPS folks have it right (Cam Position Sensor) I had the same problem. Went to thedieselstop.com and got good info which saved me a LOT of money since I was going to let the dealer do it ($120 vs $30 doing it myself) Very easy to do! Right up front. BTW, I have a "97 F250 7.3 with 172,xxx miles and no problem except the CPS. Been a great truck. And Silver Pig, WOW you sure got a different impression of thedieselstop.com than I got. Agree there are a lot of crazies out there (and some on this site, too!) but mostly they try to help and discuss issues just like our group of tractor guys do. I"ll admit, if I had to choose, I"ll take the tractor guys. Even so, the truck guys aren"t all that bad. THey just like to soup things up a bit. Heck, I might yet do it to my old beast. KEG
