Allan, I am in no way an expert on this subject. I"m finalizing on a 1996 Ford F250 w/ the 7.3L Powerstroke today. From what I"ve heard the 6.9L has more HP, but for some reason isn"t as good as the old 7.3L. I called a dealer near me and asked the service manager what kind of problems they"ve had w/ the 7.3L. He couldn"t think of many major problems, said of the two engines the 7.3 is by far the best. I would love a brand new truck, but don"t have the money for it. Good luck, Rich
