What he's calling a "racheting clutch" SHOULD be an ORC. With the tractor not running, and the PTO off, grab the PTO shaft with you hand. Try to turn it - if it won't turn in one direction, but turns the other - then you have an ORC. It will make a racheting sound as it turns. The ORC slides over the end of the PTO shaft. The 9N is a great little machine - it revolutionisd the tractor world. Sure, there are more modern, bells & whistles tractors out there, but the old N's will do more than people give them credit for. I have other, larger tractors, but I love my 8N the most. It's more manuverable, smaller, more agile, comfortable, and easy to use than the others. Wouldn't trade it for anything - except another one! BIL has a $23,000 yuppie tractor that has bells & whistles, but can't do a lot of things the N's can do - it's only advantage is live PTO and live Hyds. My N has already been working for 55 years - thats about 45 longer than his will last (if he's lucky). He only paid about $21,500 more than I did, so I guess he's happy! 8^) Anyhoo - have fun with it and be careful!

No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
