Larry, In response to your questions: yes, the tractor will pull the mower in grass that is 5 inches tall , I usually run it in 1st gear or I have problems. As to the blades, I just thought about them myself, and they could use a sharpening, I am going to do that Monday and see how things work. I will let you know how it goes.
