We HAD 4 2000 Chevy one dualies, between the blown intake gaskets and the fuel pumps it was sometimes hard to get a fix on mileage. Down to diesels only in the heavy pickups and making the crews "make do" with Chevy 1500s with the 4.3. Right now that appears to be the most fuel effiecent and durable engine in a half ton. They average 17-19 MPG and are about as tough as they come. The only problem they seem to have is the weak fuel pump.
