Ford 3610 - Assisted Steering Question

I have been offered a Ford 3610, 2 wheel drive, diesel, 1982 / 1983, with 4170 hours and the clutch replaced at 3600 hours. My biggest concern is that he says, "It does not have power steering , but it has rockshaft assist which eases steering at higher speeds." Is this adequate for this tractor? I have driven old tractors without power steering that were a real bear to drive, but I am not familiar with assisted steering. Was assisted steering usual for a Ford 3610? And, what is a fair price if it is mechanically sound but the paint is in fair condition at best? Thanks!! Bruce (sthornto@nvinet.com)
