Well Scott, you're right, this is going to start some discussion. You've hit a sore spot with me when you start talking about generators. These things are without a doubt the most unreliable devices I have ever been around. Let's not forget, Detroit stopped fooling around with these things over 35 years ago, and here we are still trying to keep them going on rigs that have to go every day. If restoration is your goal, then by all means keep it, but if you need this tractor to start every day under all circumstances, convert to an alternator. You will save yourself much time and headache in the future.
