Don't overdo it with hardener. While it has its place, you're better off painting without it. We repainted a grain cart when the temperature was dropping below what the paint company recommended, so we used hardener to speed up the drying. The finish ended up looking chalky and flat, it dried too fast. We resanded the box and repainted it when it was warmer. The result without the hardener was a nice shiny finish. Have had good results with paint mixed up by local Carquest.
