Over here in NY, we get the same thing, minus the amount of real heavy duty thunderstorms and tornados, but every so often a real bad one will roll through if we have a prevailing southern wind and a cold front hit each other just right, happened in '98, tornado cut a swath 10 miles north of here and flattened houses, moved buildings, just not on large scale as is seen in the midwest. Goalie on my hockey team lost his house, and all his hockey equipment, what a night that was. I just wish it would be more consistent, deep freeze, snow stays or whatever, changes too much so as soon as you get used to one thing, changes again, we try to use the ice on the 23 acre pond every year, but the weather sure dictates how that goes !
