I am going to tend to agree with most of the others here. That engine has a little rattle. Most all of them do. I would not get worked up about it. If it lived this long it will keep going. The pistons in that engine have a short skirt in an effort to reduce internal friction and they do rattle when cold. The slightly heavier oil will slow down the time it takes to build pressure in cooler weather. I would go with the 5-30 oil that GM calls for. I would also change the filter to an AC or NAPA gold. The valve in the filter can make a big difference in how fast the pressure hits.
