Aloha, For a more permanent seal, I would use the silicone type. If you want to remove it every so often and use the same gasket, you could use the indian head on the pan side and grease on the block side. That way, the gasket stays on the pan and usually releases on the block side (usually and not always). One thing to add is not to tighten it too much or you will distort the pan. Mahalo, doogdoog
