I am in quiet a predicament with my old 1983 model LT11 horizontal engine. It has a PTO on both sides of the crankshaft which makes it very difficult to get a replacement engine. It has being bored to its maximum by the previous owner - the connecting rod was fitted incorrectly - punching a hole in the side - the cam bearings are completely worn - the governor are broken and the synchro-balancers were thrown away with its mountings. The piston and connecting rod is brand new with the piston being .030" oversize. Apparently the problem started when the guy that was repairing the engine was supplied the wrong piston (cast iron model) which seized in the process. The repair manual warns about this problem. B&S do not supply short blocks for this model anymore but they say that they still have individual parts available. But if I look at all the damage I wonder if they will have a block and all the other part that I need available. I would like to find out if someone had the same experiece and what is the best replacement engine - if any - for this problem.I have being looking at their other engines and I find a lot of similarities like the B&S 254422 which looks a lot like mine except that it does not have a starter motor. You do not possibly know of any secondhand engine for the LT11 that is still available or how I can modify a other engine to fit. The details of my Snapper is as follows: Model number 83399 and Serial number 43171181 The details of my B&S engine is as follows: Model Type Code of 253417 113101 83112211 Thanks & Regards Johann
