I had a simular problem with my LT11 lawn tractor. One of the counterbalances came loose and broke out of the crank case cover and proceeded to break the govenor arm and the govenor gear and the piston rod and pierce a crack in the engine block. I could not locate a replacement engine. Believe it or not I was able to rebuild the engine by ordering the individual parts through a briggs and stratton dealer (I had to have the crack in the block welded). You can order a diagram of the engine parts from briggs and stratton @ http://www.briggsandstratton.com/service/form.html , I later found a place on the net that I could get a small block replacement for around $500.00, their e-mail address is [mower@surfsouth.com]. Good luck.
