Allan has mentioned a Ranger, I had one, good little truck 4wd, 5spd, 4.0L v6. It had plenty of power, but as far as pulling anything, not enough brakes. Chevy, or Dodge I have no experience with. I have a 93 F250 4wd 7.3l Td w 5spd and 4.11 gears. I work it occasionally, and hard, but mostly it is a daily driver to work. Downside 14 MPG and $2.41 diesel. if you look at Ford, go 95 or newer, with 7.3 PSD. I ran one of these with an 8K load behind it for 200 miles and it did 16MPG, it also had the 4.11 gears, but it did have an automatic. Allan should have an idea what the new ones get for mileage, even loaded.
