Anything newer than a 1996 is going to be alot more expensive in the truck world, and 4wd diesels are still worth more than a gas model of the same year. Auto Hunter is full of diesel pickups, people must be dumping them because road diesel is still quite a bit higher than the price of gas and has been for some time. I wouldn't pay the extra price for a diesel, they are more expensive to run and more expensive to register right now, but they are nice to have for towing heavy stuff around with. For a 1,500lb load and trailer, I'd highly reccomend what I have, a 1996 Chevy Silverado half ton short bed stepside with a 200hp Vortec V6, 5spd standard shift, and 3:73 gears. My truck would pull that along with ease and I've towed up to a 6,000lb tractor on a 7'x16' bumper tow (I got an aftermarket heavy duty hitch that bolts directly into the frame) flatbed. 6,000lbs is pushing it though and it don't like it too much, takes all she's got in the hills and I'd highly reccomend a heavyier truck for long or fequent trips. Truck is awful good in the mud too. My biggest complaint is the stepside box is really small.

My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
