I believe there is a difference in the engines. There is a break for interchance at around 1993 I think. You will also have to change the computer when changing to a 350 engine,different fueling requirements will cause it to run lean and possibly hot with the 305 computer. Also might be cheaper and time effective to buy a new 305 from GM.3 year 36 mo warranty,priced at around $1500 at local dealer for a long block.
