As to the maintenence costs of purebred vs. mixed, I'm here to tell ya it can go either way. I've had pure Lab and Shepard that got along on just rabies shots and heartworm pills 'til they keeled over at well aged. Now I've got Goldie ( a four way cross) who managed to make me think it was my fault she caught that pickup.
