Upon further investigation, I don't believe I need any support under that brace. Because of the 2 rows of c-channel, and the 3/8" bracing, I believe there is adequate support to lift 1000 pounds. I believe the failure point is in the sleave that holds the crane. The crane slides inside that sleave, which allows it to swivel. I believe if lifting something that is too heavy (like I did yesterday), that sleave is going to at best become oval shape, and at worst, break. To solve that in the future, I will hook a strap to the pivot point at the top of the crane, and hook the other end of the strap to the other side of the trailer. that will keep the crane at a 90 degree angle with the trailer, thus not warping the swivel-sleeve. Now my dilema is finding my digital camera to take pics. I had it last night, but now I don't know what I did with it :(
