problem with PTO adaptor

I have an 8N and sidewinder brushcuttter linked by a PTO adaptor. It keeps breaking ......and I know it's a new part, and that its been installed correctly. I work in slightly overgrown fields and run in first gear at high throttle......so what can I do to prevent this from happening ? Please advise ! Thanks.
