It might be a little early in your finacial life to buy property, but you have the right idea! I wish I had the forsight and wherewithal to get started buying property earlier than I did. But you will probably need to at least save up a decent downpayment before you can get a mortgage. But plan, save, and go for it. I'd bet you could own your own place in 2 or 3 years. That may seem like a long time to a 18 year old, but it isn't. One other comment thought; as early as you can, start putting money into retirement plans; IRAs and 401k's and such. That is another thing I wished I had started alot earlier. $100 will likely be a heck of a lot more at retirement if you socked it away at age 25 compared to if you invested it at 35. Good luck.
