Just my opinion, but"rakes"get pulled to rake out the loose material they're being used for"after" its dumped or bladed. The idea of the rake is to breakup and allow a limited amount of material to pass thru and under it to fill in the low spots etc."Pushing" mass material with a rake rather than a blade or boxblade would seem to me to be a lesson in frustration do to improper geometry and"leakage"thru the sweeps.Take a look at some of the golf course bunker and beach rakes which all seem to be towed ala"backblade",though some self propelled units have a front"planer bar" of channel or angle to skin off the high spots.Planers seem to be showing up on skidloaders and wheelloaders more these days too as they have more finesse than blind bucket work.
