I had this done on my house also. The contractor
screwed 2x4's (laid flat and parallel to the eves) to the
rafters two feet apart. Then srewed the metal to the
2x4's. That is supposed to prevent moisture being
trapped the way it might if the metal were laid on the
roofing direct. Hope he's right.
