I am going to share a coyote hunting tactic that a friend of my use in Manitoba which may or may not be legal in some areas. In our area the survey system has everything in square miles with some kind of access on four sides of every mile. The coyotes soon get a little bit wise to vehicles but can't resist giving the 200 yard stare for about 15 sec. and then taking off. So instead of a snap shot at a running coyote going over a hill 250 yds. away here is what we do. When a coyote is spotted, slow the truck down, don't quite stop, partner jumps out, clips up, uses whatever cover is available and gets set. In order to give him time, just proceed ahead with truck slowly and stop about 200 yds further down the trail. Coyote will be watching you , not him. Use whatever flat shooting calibre you want depending on whether you want the fur or not. I use 243 my friend uses 22 250 or 223. I haven't had this work since yesterday.
