fuel to pull pup trailer

hi all just curious if any one here has pulled a pup trailer behind a tandem truck i am thinking about getting one to pull behind my tandem and some fellows here say that you can double your pay load for about a quarter more of fuel use there saying if my tandem burns 20 gallons to make one trip without a trailer then it will only take about 25 gallons when pulling a pup behind any thoughts? thanks ross in ns
