Lovely start to the day. 5:30 AM I hear the ruckus and race out there. Fell over something the kids left on the lawn and wrecked myself up pretty good. Just another coon inside of one of my coon-proof chicken pens. Lost some Red Jungle Fowl and a couple of white Silkies. Still can't figure how it got in there. Found it sitting on a perch next to my big Brahma rooster, aimed best I could and said a little prayer for the rooster, and knocked him off the perch, the coon that is. He raced by me and went over the fence into the woods. Left a pretty good blood trail so he shouldn't be hard to find. It's a high population year for these damn things and I have had enough damage already. Happens about every 6-8 years and then they come crawling out of the woods late summer sick with distemper and worse. Some fella posted a while back that he buys something at TSC and mixes it with Coke. If anyone has the recipe, could you shoot me an e-mail? I'm thinkin I don't want to fight this all summer. E-mail is open or post it here. Much appreciated.
