Freeze Plug of Farmall A

I just got a 1941 Farmall A that had a bad freeze plug. I split the tractor apart and found a mess. I bet there was a double handful of crud that I dug out of the opening and up into the block. I flushed the block out as best as I could. The seat where the freeze plug goes is pitted up and I was worndering what would be the best thing to put on it when I install the plug in it.
One other question,should I run a radiator flus in it,didn't know if it would circulate very good since it doesn't have a water pump.
