I've grown 1-3 acres of pumpkins for many years. Just broke sod last week to expand patch for this year, if you want a crop this year, there's plenty of time. Roundup, wait a week, plow, wait a week, disc several times before planting (Early to mid June here) and go for it. PPI Command to help with weeds & grasses. Consider a one row transplanter (Tobacco setter), sell for like $50 around here. Take the pocket chain off, have helper drop seed down chute. Seed size varies greatly between varieties and you'll constantly be seeking (Cutting) new plates with a planter. Works great for me!
